Re: Can anyone tell me

I still have it in water but plan on moving it today between any one of my appointments. It has some nice looking leaves on it and needs to get in the dirt! :)

I will post photos on my first day off!

Re: Can anyone tell me

I'm so excited, I just got a nice one from a MG plant swap.  I killed the one I ordered, but they are sending me a new one in the spring.  Our local extension agent is a brug freak and got me interested.  I also picked up a "Desert Rose" succulent from a vendor at a seminar I attended.  Beautiful blooms, it's a succulent and doing well.  I'll try and get some decent pictures when it blooms again.  I have a "thing" for cacti and succulents...LOL

Re: Can anyone tell me

What is the best way to root cuttings?  I will be getting some real soon, but I don't have enough potting soil to put them all in.  I was wondering if water and a little peroxide will work.  My aero grower probably would have been ideal for rooting brugs, but I gave it to a friend.  I read something about when rooting brugs in water, it is essential to have the water not become stagnant.  So having the water always moving and getting air in the water, keeps it from rotting.  Any help??

Re: Can anyone tell me

Actually we broke us off while moving and stuck it in water and forgot about it, changed the water a couple of times, looked about a month later and it had roots. Stuck it in soil and it's growing fine now.

huh.  I am still hoping for the best.  Thanks for letting me know.  Now I also know how long to expect roots to appear.

Re: Can anyone tell me

It took 3 days for my 'Georgia Peach' to have roots up to half an inch long.  I have 2 others that are developing the nubs.  You should keep trying to root some on your own as well, Beth.  I was nervous as heck to have some of my own, even trying to root some.  I thought for sure I would loose at least half to rotting.  None have rotted so far.

Re: Can anyone tell me

I found out in a sad way that one of my cuttings that I thought was struggling, has the longest and deepest roots of all the brug cuttings I have.  What is so sad about that?  I dropped the pot.    There is still around a half an inch of root still attached.  Will it recover?  Should I do anything special to help it along again?

Re: Can anyone tell me

It will probably go into shock but if you replant it immediately it should recover since it still has roots.

Re: Can anyone tell me

I did that, I don't know how to tell if a cutting goes in to shock when it doesn't have any leaves.  They were sent to me already....bare.  Should I make sure the soil is moist for a while?  I am certain it will recover.  It just makes me sad that it was doing so well.  Thanks pepper.

Re: Can anyone tell me

Keep the soil moist and just keep an eye on it.  As long as it is green it should still be alive.

Re: Can anyone tell me

The brug in question is 'Santa Rosa' and I have an update.  It seems to be doing very well without any side effects.  It now is putting out leaves.  I am very happy to see that.  I did have to cut one branch off of it though as it just shriveled and dried.  I haven't seen that progress through any more of the plant/cutting so I hope it is ok.
